We love robots and we are brainwired to life together with these technological marvels. That’s what Pepper proves. At least untill now.

People can buy a talking and person-shaped robot named Pepper. Pepper is able to read your body language and even gets sad when someone turns off the lights.

Do you remember Pepper? It is the four-foot-tall, 60-pound, dancing, joke telling and talking robot. The robot that is able to guess users’ moods and keeps them company. Pepper can be outfitted with more than 200 apps that can teach English to kids or keep photo journals. But that’s not all. Pepper’s software is open source.

Pepper is now available for consumer. The big Japanese cellular corporation SoftBank is putting it on the market. The company states that it is the world’s first robot being able to intuit human emotions by sensing changes in voice and other things like facial expressions. Pepper can be bought for about $1,600.

But there is more about Pepper. The robot has even its own emotions. The droid can get lonely if you ignore it, and even laughs if you tell it a joke. But let it be a good one!

So today’s and certainly fortune robots are becoming a bid creepy! Lots of robots are being developed with an “emotional companion angle, especially for children, the elderly, and hospital patients.  Pepper main purpose is to be your robot buddy, specifically created to keep people company, especially in Japan, whose population is the fastest-aging in the world.

Pepper has plans to go global. Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba and the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn are investing $120 million into SoftBank’s robot-making efforts. So in the near future we can see Pepper in the rest of the world?
