Gamification in healthcare

Gamification in healthcare

Mysugr is a game which helps diabetes patients to monitor their blood values (sugar). Gamification makes it possible to make diabetes hopefully more bearable.

Last month we wrote about gamification at governments here on Extend Limits. But also in healthcare we see a rise of gamification. Mysugr is an example of gamification is healthcare. Mysugr is an app which makes it easy to track what you have eaten, amount of calories and the amount of insuline you have taken. To monitor this you get points which help you defeat the ‘sugarmonster’. The app is developed by Frederik Debong. He is also a diabetes patient.

People who suffer from diabetes know how hard it is to keep track on all the data and information about your daily activities and the effect of them on you blood sugar. Mysugr makes is more easy and fun.

Healthcare is undergoing a technological revolution. Technology in the form of gamification helps people to fight disease and make life more easy. For example a 3D environment which helps recovering from an accident is better than any hospital. Technology in combination with gamification will have a big future on healthcare. Just like in government like the example Waternet we described a few weeks ago.
