Can we auto correct humanity?

It seems that there are no technological barriers. But we have human barriers and it seems more often that technological progress is going faster then human comprehension. Is technology going to fast?

The biggest challenge we are facing when we look at technology is to make from all the technological advances, human progress! We are now entering a phase where we become more aware of our technological dependence. Our Western societies become more and more dependent on technology and all tough technology brought many great possibilities we could ask ourselves if technology really made any difference until now. Because for example we still are fully addicted to an dominant economic model which worships growth but fuels inequality and disrespects our planet. We have unlimited access to information via the web but still we live in a world dominated by advertisement and marketing. We have more gadgets then ever to communicate but we have difficulties to start a normal conversation in the real physical world. When will technology keep up with it’s promises?

Of course technology brought great things. It democratised information and even production processes via 3d printing. It gives us more possibilities to live within the limits of our planet because of new ways to harness energy, produce and distribute. Technology gave us more information about our human bodies and in the near future we will be able to control even more terrible deceases. But the biggest thing we miss right now is a change in mindset. Western societies need to reset the way the live and think. At Extend Limits we see this trend developing and it is more important then all the technological changes. The evolution in thinking is powered by technology and is really disruptive.

We see a big shift from ego to eco. A shift where we come aware that our current lifestyles are out-of-stock. We will not consume ourselves out of this economic situation. We need to create a world where it becomes profitable to add to the human sphere instead of extracting only. When we look at technology we have become addicted and need to learn to deal with all those social and endless possibilities provided by technology. Together with a all time low in trust we want to reset our institutions and organizations. But the next phase we are now going through is the one of mindset. How do we use all the new technologies to create real human progress. And to create this we need to unlearn what we have learned because our dominant paradigms are leading us onto the wrong path to the future.
