Amazon Echo in your living room?
Meet Amazon Echo, a voice-activated, cloud-connected speaker for your living room. Echo is smart and connected and is able, when you ask it, to stream your favorite music, to set an alarm, or give information you want, and it promises to respond in kind.
Amazon Echo has seven microphones embedded in the top of its tower-like design. Amazon claims that it is able to hear you from anywhere in the room. So do we have a combination of Apple’s Siri (it responses with a nice Alexa voice response system) and Sonos?
Amazon unveiled its new toy at an introductory cost of $199. It is only available in the US and there is no word if and when is will become available internationally. This will also take some time because of the difference in languages. But for the English speaking countries it could become available soon?
Amazon Echo helps you with for example from weather forecasts to answering questions with Wikipedia entries. Integration with cloud-based music streaming services like Amazon Music, Prime Music, iHeartRadio, and TuneI makes it possible to stream any of your favorite songs. You could see Amazon Echo as a virtual assistant standing all day in your living room and helping you if possible. Remember the success of Jibo on InDieGoGo? Well Amazon seems to act also on this trend. We embrace technology and give it a place in our houses. So our houses become connected but also collected homes.
Big question is why is Amazon doing this? Of course to make ordering products and services more easy. What do you think?
