SCiO, your sixth sense
The rise of total transparency with this new device which enables you to scan materials or physical objects and get instant relevant information to your smart phone. Scio is a big hit on Kickstarter.
Meet SCiO… a device which could revolutionize the way we buy and who we trust. Smart phones made it easy for us to capture images, research facts and navigate street maps. But there is one thing in which they haven’t succeeded. Our intelligent smart phone haven’t brought us closer to our physical environment - until now!
This is SCiO. It is the world’s first (affordable) molecular sensor that fits in the palm of your hand. SCiO allows you to get instant and relevant information about the chemical make-up of just about anything around you. This information is sent directly to your smart phone. Wow, isn’t that impressive. SCiO makes is possible to scan products and give direct information about the product you are scanning. For example what kind of chemicals are in it or if it is healthy. SCiO could be our future sixth sense.
Our gadgets and sensors are becoming more intelligent and more embedded and used in everyday life. This means that companies have to be aware that we are emerging towards a world where consumers know really the ins and outs of their products. So there will be no hidding for negative information behind glamorous marketing campaigns. The consumer will be able to test your product from the palm of his hand. What about that dear marketeer?
SCiO is now a Kickstarter project but it has already met it’s financial goal. These are some of the things SCiO can already do for example:
- Get nutritional facts about different kinds of food: salad dressings, sauces, fruits, cheeses, and much more.
- See how ripe an Avocado is, through the peel!
- Find out the quality of your cooking oil.
- Know the well being of your plants.
- Analyze soil or hydroponic solutions.
- Authenticate medications or supplements.
- Upload and tag the spectrum of any material on Earth to our database. Even yourself !
This is pretty amazing. We will follow this one which could have an enormous impact on wearable technology.
