3d printing fruit
We hear everyday a new innovation in the field of 3d printing. Of course we cannot publish them all here on Extend Limits. But this one is special. Printing fruit!
We already heard about Foodini and ChocaByte which both are able to print healthy and unhealthy food. But I never heard about the printer which is able to print fruit. But here it is.
UK company Dovetailed introduced a new kind of 3D food printer that prints fruit or a combination of fruits on demand.
Dovetailed has developed a 3D printer that can make edible fruit. It extends a molecular-gastronomy technique called spherification. By combining individual liquid droplets with different flavours into a desired shape, it allows the creation of interesting bespoke fruits. It is aimed at chefs, foodies and anyone interested in making creative dining experiences. According to Dovetailed, the printing process only takes seconds, so you could have your favorite pineapple and mango fruit mix on demand.
“Our 3D printer will open up new possibilities not only to professional chefs but also to our home kitchens — allowing us to enhance and expand our dining experiences,” said. founder Valva Kalnikaite
The 3D fruit printer was revealed on 24th of May at a Tech Food Hack – an experimental dining hackathon event in Cambridge UK, where a small group of foodies, hackers and designers came together to re-think and make new dining experiences. The event was co-organised by Dovetailed and Microsoft Research Cambridge.
