The future of emergency services = drones?
The company Argodesign (Austin, Texas) got in a brainstorm about the future of healthcare a wild idea about the future of ambulances. Of course they made a visual concept of it. And it looks stunning. Are these the first impressions of our near future emergency workers?
The concept is made from the perspective of a designers mind. So they haven’t looked at the technical feasability. The ambulance drone is a one-person drone driven by GPS, a pilot or a combination of both. It is able to get to an emergency scene with one doctor and can land almost anywhere. This because the size of the drone is the size of a compact car.

The drone can fly autonomously so it can depart immediately. It is also possible that a remote controlled drone enters the emergency scene. A pilot can navigate the drone in hard conditions for landing or taking of. So one pilot is able to navigate several drones at the same time.
It is not a thoroughly vetted concept, but I think it’s extremely intriguing where drones might show up . It would be nice to see them used this way, rather than another military function or more photography (Mark Rolston Argodesign)
The question Mark Rolston puts up is very interesting. This because we see a lot of initiatives and experiments with the usage of drones. For example the NASA which is building a kind of control center for drones. Just like we have for planes. Of Daimler Benz which is experimenting with the usage of drones to deliver packages from their trucks into cities. This because more and more citiy centres are closed for trucks and other vehicles. Amazon, Alibaba and even governments are experimenting with the usage of drones. So where will this lead us?
In the Dutch Amsterdam Arena we will even experience the first Drone event Air2015. During this event drones will perform a lightshow for the audience. Drones are coming and they are here to stay.
