Invisibility within reach
It is still one of the biggest dream of humanity: invisibility (just like flying was)! And when we look at the future this dream might become just as normal as flying!
A cloak which makes you invisible is not new. In 2003 the first articles were published about this. But now we see again a lot of attention for the invisibility cloak. This because we now see more future applications for the technology. In the added clip you will see Professor Susumu Tachi (university of Tokyo). His innovation uses the human shortcomings in eyesight. What he does is project the background of a person of object on the person or object. So this is not really invisibility. But it looks great. Tachi sees future applications in hospitals, cars and air planes. But Tachi is not the only one who is active in the area of invisibility.
Scientists from the university of Berkeley designed materials which are able to bend light. We humans see things because our eyes are able to receive 'lights beams' which are reflected by objects or people. But now there is a material which is able to reflect those light beams. These scientists have really made the era of invisibility come closer. What do you think?
Probably the elderly will not see invisibility on the streets :-). But the youth will probably know invisibility.
