2016 was clearly the year of bots. Think Amazon Echo, Google Home and many others. Our environment is becoming smarter.
The number of devices that continuously has an eye on us increase rapidly. From telephone to television or thermostat. As people, we are increasingly in areas where devices listen to us. All this under the guidance of technology that can offer our a better service and support. That we should be aware of this development seems clear. Yet, we also see a contradicting trend of being offline. Yet, technology in the upcoming years will develop further which means that our houses are getting smarter. Consider the interesting video that Mark Zuckerberg launched recently. This video was over his house robot Jarvis. Jarvis is an artificial intelligence device that takes over different tasks in his household. It does not all work as good as it looks in the video. Zuckerberg has mainly taken part of the project to gain more experience and see the new possibilities of artificial intelligence. Small note, the voice of Jarvis is Morgan Freeman.
But the demo of Jarvis is not the only one that appeared. We have seen many initiatives in 2016 to make our homes smarter. The smartest person in the room will be the room itself. Gatebox.ai is also very interesting. It is a hologram that makes it easy to get the right information by asking questions. Speech is becoming the new interface between humans and technology. We share our voice and emotions where technology can react on.
The world we are creating is smart and proactive. A world where technology is continuously monitoring and listing. A world full of ease and without privacy. The world we are dreaming of?
